Specialist in Spanish syntax. Regular, full-time Assistant Professor,
tenure-track.
The Department seeks a specialist in Spanish syntax with a
well-defined and active research agenda who can contribute to our growing
graduate programs. Opportunities exist to teach a variety of introductory
and advanced courses in Spanish syntax, to serve on doctoral committees,
and also to contribute to our newly defined undergraduate program in
Hispanic Linguistics. A secondary area of expertise is highly desirable,
and knowledge of one or more other Romance languages will represent an
additional strength. Native or near-native ability in Spanish is
essential. Applicants should hold the Ph.D. or expect its receipt by date
of appointment. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
(entry level salary with Ph. D. completed is $40,000). Starting date:
August 1998.

Subject: Tenure-track Position in TESOL
Department of English announces an opening for an assistant professor,
beginning August 15, 1998, for a person with a PhD in TESOL or Applied
Linguistics (with an emphasis in TESOL) and experience teaching ESL
(preferably abroad). A background in ESL pedagogical theory or ESL
composition is desirable. Salary $35,000. Send letter of application
