    Assistant Professor of English (two positions)

    Ph.D. in English, Education, or Reading, experience in teaching language arts, and evidence of successful teaching at the college level.

    Teaching a variety of courses dealing with the teaching of language arts: reading, children's/adolescent literature and teaching writing. Teaching load is three courses per semester.

    Salary and benefits are competitive.

    MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE, South Hadley, MA 01075. The Asian Studies Program invites applications for a tenure-track, entry-level position in Chinese language, beginning in September 1998. Applicants should have the Ph.D. degree, in any appropriate discipline, in hand or expected by September 1998. The incumbent will have primary responsibility for teaching first- and second-year Chinese (Mandarin), so applicants should demonstrate ability, training, and experience in language pedagogy and second-language acquisition, though that need not be the primary research field. In addition, the incumbent will teach one other one-semester course.
