ASST PROF OF SPANISH-LINGUISTICS, tenure track, contingent upon final
funding. Required: PhD in Spanish Linguistics with competence in
Pedagogy, native or near-native fluency in Spanish, 3 yrs college teaching
experience inc language, publication or demonstrated scholarly promise,
evidence of excellence in teaching. Responsibilities inc courses in
linguistics, such as ESL and sociolinguistics, Spanish language and
culture, history and structure of Spanish, methods of teaching foreign
languages inc supervision of GTAs. Send letter of application with vita,
sample publication, three letters of reference, to Prof. M.A. Gosser
Esquilin or Dr. Robert Trammell, Co-Chairs of Spanish Linguistics Search
Committee, by November 10th.

Subject: Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer in Japan
Faculty of Language and Culture at Tohoku University announces an
associate professor or senior lecturer position in English linguistics
beginning October 1998. The obligations include teaching English to
the undergraduate students. Applications from specialists in such
areas as cognitive linguistics, sociolinguistics, applied linguistics,
phonology, semantics, pragmatics, and language education are
particularly welcome. Applicants should each forward a detailed
curriculum vitae, a complete bibliography, samples of five major
papers or publications(five copies each), and the future research plan
(one page of A4 or letter-size paper) to:
