    - ------------ UNIVERSITY OF THE WITWATERSRAND, JOHANNESBURG LECTURER IN LINGUISTICS

    THe Department of Lingusitics, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, announces a single vacancy for a Lecturer in Phonology with a strong secondary interest in Sociolinguistics. The successful candidate will have proven teaching ability and research interests in Phonology and Sociolinguistics, with an emphasis on the former. A Ph.D. should be in hand or close to completion Teaching is mainly at the undergraduate level but will also involve post-graduate supervision. In addition, staff members are expected to conduct scholarly research and contribute to administration. Benefits includes an annual bonus, generous leave, financial support for research, funds for conference travel, pension, medical aid, and housing subsidy and relocation allowance (if eligible). Duties commence 1ST JULY 1997.
