The Human Language Technology Center at HKUST is offering the
following research and engineering positions within a spoken language
translation and understanding project, available immediately:
THE POSITIONS:
- Research associate / Postdoctoral researcher (PhD in EE or CS):
Research in speech recognition, machine translation, and/or
natural language processing. Experience with one or more of the
following is a plus: ASR systems, MT systems, statistical pattern
recognition, dependency grammars.
Salary scale: HK$ 23,725-41,140/month ( US$ 3,000-5,300/month )
- Research assistant (MS or BS, in EE or CS):
Research and system implementation. Programming skills in
C/C++/Unix/Windows required.
Salary scale: HK$ 13,415-26,020/month ( US$ 1,700-3,300/month )
- Software engineer (MS or BS, in EE or CS):
System implementation and integration. Programming skills in
C/C++/Unix/Windows required. Experience with software engineering,
development tools, and user-interface design a plus.
Salary scale: HK$ 20,505-32,695/month ( US$ 2,600-4,200/month )
- System administrator (MS or BS, in EE or CS):
Maintenance of large-scale software environments, development tools,
networking. Skills in Unix/Windows required.
Salary scale: HK$ 20,505-32,695/month ( US$ 2,600-4,200/month )
HLTC is a designated High Impact Area research center at HKUST.
Its six core faculty members from the EEE and the CS departments
specialize in speech and signal processing, statistical and corpus-
based NLP, machine translation, information extraction, Chinese
language processing, and related fields.

JOB OPENING FOR TENURE-TRACK, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN APPLIED LINGUISTICS

Specialization in second language acquisition required. Knowledge of
research design and language assessment desired. Experience in ESL/EFL
composition a plus. Publications desirable. Doctorate in hand at time of
employment. Ph.D. in linguistics preferred.
