    McGill University Department of Linguistics

    POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

    Lecturer, nine-month position, effective September 1, 1997. The Department anticipates that a tenure track position will be advertised for the following year.

    Qualifications: Ph.D. in Linguistics with primary specialization in sociolinguistics, secondary in historical linguistics. Interest in a non-Indo-European language would be an asset. Teaching and research should be informed by some current generative grammatical theory with a focus on formal constraints on code switching, language variation and/or language change. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in these areas. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research in the field of specialization is required. Salary: $35,000.

    Machina Sapiens is seeking candidates to join a team working on a Machine Translation system designed to translate Web pages (French-English and English-French).

    LINGUISTE-INFORMATICIEN OU INFORMATICIEN-LINGUISTE (ref LIN01)

    - diplome universitaire et/ou experience en informatique, en linguistique et en traduction - formation ou experience en traduction automatique - bilingue (francais - anglais) - bonne capacite a travailler en equipe

    COMPUTATIONAL LINGUISTICS (ref LIN01)

    - university diploma and/or experience in Computer Science, Linguistics and Translation - training or experience in Machine Translation - bilingual (French - English) - able to work on a team
