    Computational Linguists, Machine Translation

    The IBM T. J. Watson Research Center has contract openings for computational linguists who will work on IBM's Machine Translation project, LMT. Work with an enthusiastic team, dedicated to producing the highest quality natural language applications based on strong theoretical foundations and sound implementation.

    Candidates must have native competence in one of the languages Spanish, French, German or Italian (as well as good knowledge of English). Each person will be responsible for improving and testing lexical and transformation rules involving his/her language. In addition to the required language fluency, each candidate should have strong linguistic skills and some programming experience in a language such as C. Some knowledge of Prolog is a plus.

    The Language Institute of Chosun University (LICU) is seeking a few applicants for the position of EFL instructor. The LICU is beginning a brand new program in English as a Foreign Language designed to provide opportunities for the development of the four basic language skills. Classes will range from beginning classes for children to more advanced classes for undergraduate students.

    Applicants with a degree in TESOL and/or certification in TESOL (TEFL, TESL, etc. included) or a degree in a related English education field will be highly welcomed. Previous experience in teaching English as a second language is also preferred. Native competence in English is esstential. Send a letter of application and curriculum vita to:
