    We are looking for an Arabic Computational Linguist to help with the design and implementation of a linguistic software package for the Arabic market. The initial software localization project will require Native Arabic fluency, advanced education in computational linguistics, and experience with software products.     Visiting Positions in Syntax and Semantics

    The Department of Linguistics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, invites applications for two temporary visiting positions at the Assistant Professor level during 1997-98, one for one year, and one for one semester. It is anticipated that one of these appointments will be in semantics and the other in syntax, but it is not determined in advance which is which, and either position is open to candidates with strength in both areas. Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Ph.D. required by time of appointment. Review of applications will begin May 1, 1997, and continue until the positions are filled.
