The Department of Japanese Studies of Salem-Teikyo
University invites applications for an instructor of
Japanese at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning
August, 1998. Salem-Teikyo University is a private
American institution with 800 American students and 200
Japanese students. Responsibilities include teaching 6
modules (24 credit hours) and doing research for 2
modules (2 months) per year. We are seeking a person
who can teach 1) undergraduate Japanese language
courses for non-native Japanese and 2) a course in
his/her specialization. Applicants must have native
fluency in Japanese and a terminal degree in the
relevant fields. Yaruki no aru kata, mattemasu! (This
year 6 students passed Level 3 of the Japanese
Proficiency Test provided by the Japan Foundation, 3
students passed the initial screening for the 1997-
1998 Mombushoo scholarship, and 2 students gave
presentations in a regional and a national conference.)
