Lectureship in English Linguistics
Applications are invited for a lectureship in English Linguistics
tenable for 1 - 2 years to replace a member of staff on research leave
from 1 October 1997. Candidates should be active in one of the
department's major research areas (Linguistic Variation & Change,
Phonetics/Phonology, Syntax/Semantics) within the field of English
Linguistics.
The successful candidate will be able to teach courses in English
Linguistics including the language's structure and/or its history and
will contribute at both undergraduate and graduate levels in these
areas. We would welcome teaching which developed a theoretically
challenging approach to these areas.
Salary up to point six on the Lecturer's salary scale (grade) A.

Subject: Immediate one year job
The Department of Linguistics at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale
is seeking applications for a one year term position at the rank of
Lecturer beginning August 15 1997. While the PhD is preferred, those with
ABD status in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics or TESOL will be considered.
Primary specialization should be in areas related to TESOL and teacher
training. Teaching assignment will include MA level courses in TESOL
Theory and Methods and practicums. Opportunities available for work on
student committees and research. Applicants should submit letter of
application, current CV and three letters of reference by July 9, 1997 or
