    The American Academy of English Poland:

    We are seeking creative, energetic and resourceful ESL/EFL instructors for the 1998/1999 academic year.

    INSTRUCTOR (Academic Year)

    Responsible for preparation, delivery, and evaluation of a pre-programmed ESL/EFL language course using the communicative approach.

    Coursebooks, Syllabus, Teaching Resources and Supplementary materials provided.

    Instructor will be expected to maintain professional standard of classroom appearance, behaviour, and instruction. Academic year runs from October 5th until June 25th

    Base Teaching Load: 18 Class Blocks per week One block equals eighty (80) minutes

    In-Office / On-Call: 4 Class Blocks per week

    Instructors are required to be available for substitute teaching when called upon to do so and/or to be accessible to students for office visits (by appointment only) as part of their mandated instructional duties. (Note: If no substitute teaching or student office visits are planned, instructor may use this time at their own descretion. They must, of course, remain immediately accessible. A variety of voluntary work projects are available and will be considered as a clear indication of instructors desire for career and professional development.)

    Weekly Meeting: 30 min per week Instructors are required to attend an office and course administration meeting once a week.

    Salary: 1850 PLN per month

    Accomodation: Furnished apartment with bath, kitchen, washing machine and telephone line. Heating utility paid. Instructor is responsible for all other utilities, including gas, water, electricity and phone (Note: Average monthly utility total is about 80 PLN)

    Benefits: $400.00 Airfare Stipend towards cost of travel: $200 payable in advance, $200 payable at the completion of one-year contract (Certain limitations apply) (Note: AAE will handle pickup of instructors arriving at Krakow or Katowice Airports... those arriving in Warsaw or other Polish cities will be provided with travel directions only.)

    Health Insurance Coverage (certain health insurance restrictions apply) Free Polish Language Lessons (Instruction provided onsite, proficiency levels not guarnateed ) Work Visa Provided and Paid (Certain limitations apply for non-US citizens )

    All Polish National Holidays Observed. Extended vacation periods occur during Christmas, Easter, and the Polish school year Winter Break.

    The Department of French at the University of Western Ontario invites applications for two probationary appointments (tenure track) at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the following areas: Medieval language, Medieval literature, Literature of the Renaissance, 17th-century literature, linguistics (semantics, theories and practice of translation), literary and cultural theories. The ideal candidates will have teaching experience, a PhD, an excellent research and publication record in these areas. The successful candidates will have native or native-like fluency in French.
