    The German Program at Michigan State University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor with a specialization in second language acquisition or applied linguistics with an emphasis on German. The successful candidate should have an active research agenda or proven scholarly record and be able to collaborate on research projects in the national Center for Language Education and Research (CLEAR) at MSU. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate German classes and graduate courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to innovative undergraduate and graduate program development, to enhancing study abroad opportunities, and to fostering links to other constituencies on and off campus, as reflected by the land grant mission. Candidates with secondary expertise in technology-related language learning or business German are highly desired. PhD or equivalent required. Native or near-native proficiency in English and German essential.     Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, State University of New York at Buffalo invites applications for an assistant professor position in Korean language beginning August, 1999. Teach undergraduate Korean language (especially third/fourth year) and culture courses (e.g., Introduction to Korea, The Korean-American Experience), supervise independent study, participate in curriculum development, occasionally teach required undergraduate courses in American Pluralism or World Civilization. Conduct research and pursue outside funding. Candidates must 1) hold the PhD in Korean/Korean Studies (linguistics and/or literature) with a background in foreign language pedagogy; computer-assisted instruction, 2) have native or near-native proficiency in Korean, 3) have strong teaching credentials, 4) have administrative experience, 5) provide leadership in the development of the Korean language and culture program, as well as provide support for the programs in East Asian Languages and Cultures and Social Sciences Interdisciplinary/East Asian Studies, 6) work collaboratively and cooperatively in a program that utilizes a team-teaching approach at the first- and second-year levels.
