    Assistant Professor of English

    Tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, whose primary research and teaching interests are in English syntax and whose secondary interest is preferably in second language acquisition; secondary interest, however, may be in such areas as stylistics, history of English, discourse analysis, or English phonology.     We, a Spanish firm called Meta4, are currently looking for English and Spanish terminologist/lexicographers.

    Meta4 develops Payroll and Human Resource applications for numerous regional markets (US, Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, etc.). In both cases, the lexicographers/terminologist must be native speakers (US and Spain). We would consider British or Irish candidates if they have extensive experience working with US firms. The following is the job profile:

    TERMINOLOGIST

    Primary Tasks:

    1. Localize/translate software from Spanish or English into one of the following languages: * Spanish * English

    2. Update and maintain the following lexical databases: * Translation Memory * Machine Translation application

    3. Identify subject matter specific terminology and provide translations at an enterprise-wide level

    4. Development glossaries (definitions)

    5. Publish and distribute glossaries on the web

    Profile

    1. Very good knowledge of both English or Spanish and native fluency in one of the following languages: * English * Spanish 2. Experience using machine translation software (desirable, not required) (Transcend, Systran, Logos, etc.) 3. Experience using Translation Memory applications (desirable, not required) (TRADOS, IBM Workbench, etc.) 4. Experience developing terminology banks 5. Experience using a desktop publishing system (FrameMaker, Interleaf, Ventura Publishing, PageMaker)(desirable, not required) 6. Degree in linguistics, languages, and/or translation 7. Subject matter familiarity in some following specialized areas: * relational databases programming * Case tools * Microsoft suite of applications (Access, Powerpoint, Excel, Project, Schedule) * workflow * database modelling * Human Resource * payroll
