    Tenure Track Position available at the Graduate Institute of Linguistics National Chung Cheng University

    The Graduate Institute of Linguistics at National Chung Cheng University in Chia-Yi, Taiwan, has a tenure track position in semantics and pragmatics available starting August 1, 1999. The position is open rank, but scholars who are qualified to be appointed at the rank of full professor may also be considered for Director of the Graduate Institute of Linguistics. Candidates must have solid research records in Chinese linguistics. A background in corpus/computational linguistics is a plus, though not necessary. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand by June 1999 in order to be appointed to the position by August 1, 1999. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience. The annual salary is about NT$992,000 for a first year assistant professor, NT$ 1,031,000 for a first year associate professor, and NT$1,213,000 for a first year full professor. (Previous teaching and research experience can be counted toward the salary scale in all three ranks.)     The Department of Linguistics at The Ohio State University seeks candidates for a position in human language processing at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenured). Preference will be given to candidates working on adult language processing at the sentential (syntax/semantics) level and/or extrasentential (discourse structure) level. The appointment will be effective October 1, 1999. Candidates are expected to have the Ph.D. in hand at the time of the appointment. The person filling the position will be expected to be active in research and publication, to meet standard departmental teaching requirements and to perform service duties as required by the department, College and University. The deadline for applications is November 30, 1998.
