    JOB DESCRIPTION: Linguist, to teach TESL courses, including SLA and language transfer, linguistics, grammatical analysis and composition (ESL and regular courses), and to advise TESL students. Assignments at M.A. and undergraduate levels. Desirable: record of ESL and TESL experience abroad. Academic year: 6-course load. Interviewing at LSA conference in Los Angeles in January 1999.

    TERM OF CONTRACT: 9-month appointment; tenure track

    SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience and credentials

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Prefer Ph.D. in hand; will consider ABD if doctorate completed by August 1, 1999.

    Assistant Professor of Linguistics Tenure-track appointment as assistant professor of linguistics, PhD required, beginning September 16, 1999. Teaching will include upper-division and graduate courses in language acquisition (1st and 2nd) and TESOL theory and practice. We are particularly interested in candidates with additional interest and expertise in teaching freshman composition and/or sophomore literature (especially world literature).

    Auburn University is a comprehensive university with 21,500 students. The Department of English offers the BA, MA, and PhD (further information is available at our website).
