    B.E.S.T. is currently accepting applications for both part-time and full-time teaching positions in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

    B.E.S.T. is looking for ESL/EFL American/Canadian teachers with the following qualifications: 1. a strong desire and the ability to communicate 2. a high level of energy and activeness necessary for the constant interacting between the student and teacher in the classroom 3. a strong desire for challenges that come with working and living in a developing country 4. a keen interest in making a difference in the lives of the students by teaching them the necessary English language skills 5. a 4-year college/university and/or an ESL/EFL certificate (preferred). Applicants without an ESL/EFL/TEFL certificate is recommended to have at least 1-2 year of experience teaching English in a classroom environment 6. willing to make a minimum commitment of 6 months. 7. Physically and mentally healthy 8. willing to teach between 20 to 40 hours per week

    COMPUTATIONAL GRAMMARIAN for Spanish

    A large U.S.-based software company is looking for a computational grammarian for Spanish in a temporary contractor role. The position will be located in Redmond, Washington, USA. This is a great opportunity to work with a dedicated group of researchers who are creating a broad-based Spanish parser, and an experienced product team who will ship a grammar checking product based on the core parsing technology.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The primary responsibility will be designing and writing critique rules for a grammar checker. The rules are based on the output of our Spanish language parser, so the critique rule writer will become intimately familiar with our existing natural language system, and will then enhance the system by creating rules to flag grammatical errors and suggest alternatives.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    The qualifications should include experience in linguistic research and software development; familiarity with natural language processing; a flexible approach to linguistic theory; and an advanced degree in linguistics, computer science, or a closely related discipline. Native proficiency in Spanish is assumed; practical experience with NLP implementation issues or grammar checkers is highly desirable.

    ABOUT THE GROUP:

    We are in the process of designing and building a system to analyze unrestricted natural language, taking input text, and moving from lexical/morphological analysis through syntax, semantics, and eventually pragmatics and discourse. A generation component is also planned. We have already shipped products world-wide based on our English and Japanese technology, and are now ready to ship in French and Spanish.
