    MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AND THE JULIAN SAMORA RESEARCH INSTITUTE

    Psychology/Latino Studies - The Department of Psychology and the Julian Samora Research Institute of Michigan State University invite applications for a tenure-system position at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in CHICANO/LATINO Studies. The candidate will be jointly appointed by Psychology, the tenure home department, and the Julian Samora Research Institute, the Midwests premier policy research and outreach center to the Hispanic community. Applicants with a Ph.D. in any area of Psychology will be considered; women and minority-group candidates are strongly urged to apply. The individual must have a strong research program capable of attracting extramural support. In addition to teaching in the Department of Psychology, the candidate will work with graduate and undergraduate students in an advisory capacity, and participate in other faculty activities including student mentoring . The position involves a 50% teaching release for the first three years to allow work to advance the Institutes mission, to promote the generation of scholarship on Latinos, and advance the Ethnic Studies goals of the College of Social Science and the University. The position begins August 16, 1999. Salary and rank will depend on the candidates qualifications and experience.
