    Dear Linguists:

    Han Nam University in Taejon, Korea would like to invite qualified English instructors who can teach Listening/Speaking, Reading, and Writing skills to Korean university students, especially freshman and sophomore. We are going to hire six native speakers of English this year. If you are interested in teaching English in Korea, please send your application materials ASAP.

    Qualifications: M.A. or Ph.D in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, and Education from an accredited institution. ESL classroom teaching experience preferred.

    Requirements: Submit a transcript, a credential, a vitae with a cover letter. Salary: Won 1,600,000. per month. House provided. 50% of Medical Insurance covered by university. A teaching responsibility - minimum 12 hours per week.

    The Department of Linguistics at New York University seeks candidates for two positions as part of our continuing development in urban sociolinguistics and formal linguistics.

    1. Tenured position in sociolinguistics and/or contact linguistics, including bilingualism, creole studies, and related topics, beginning September 1, 1999.

    2. Tenured position in formal linguistics, specifically in the areas of syntax and/or semantics, beginning September 1, 1999.

    Responsibilities for both positions include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In each case the Department invites applications from scholars with a distinguished record of publication and teaching. Applications for a visiting professorship will also be considered. All positions are pending administrative and budgetary approval.
