    The Department of Linguistics at The Ohio State University seeks candidates for a tenured position in computational linguistics at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The appointment could start as early as October 1, 1999. The person filling the position will be expected to be active in research and publication, to meet standard departmental teaching requirements and to perform service duties as required by the department, College, and University.     Fluent/native English speaker to act as language consultant/annotator to natural language processing team. Read text from various sources -- journalistic style, closed captioned, broadcast news -- and do linguistic annotation, e.g., syntax, semantic classes, etc. Write annotation guidelines to document markup conventions. Experience with UNIX and SGML/XML is desired. Undergraduate degree in linguistics or related field, or equivalent experience doing linguistic annotation is expected. This is a full time position located in Bedford, Massachusetts USA. Applicants should reside within commuting distance of the Boston area, as relocation expenses will not be reimbursed.
