    One course teaching replacement in Phonetics

    Cornell Linguistics is looking for someone to teach Introduction to Phonetics (at the graduate/advanced undergraduate level) on a per course basis fall 1998. Salary will be $7500 for the course.     JOB: NLP Development Engineer

    General Description:

    We are looking for developers to join our Natural Language Processing Group in the Boston dictation division. The dictation division is focussed on developing large vocabulary continuous dictation systems. We are looking for developers who will develop NLP applicaations and play a key role in meeting our milestones.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    - Development of context free grammars - Development in VB Script - Parsing for detecting agreement problems - Parsing for meaning extraction - Analyze application usage by performing usability studies

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    - General background in computational or theoretical linguistics - Experience in parsing techniques a plus Product software - development desirable Experience with VB and/or C++ a plus

    Position as Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor THE FACULTY OF ARTS

    Applications are invited for a position as lecturer in Linguistics, at the Department of Linguistics, University of Aarhus, tenable from January 1, 1999, or as soon as possible thereafter. Applicants are asked to document a thorough basis in general linguistics and research, experience that is relevant for one or more of the following areas: second language acquisition, language change (grammaticisation and lexical development), language typology, corpus linguistics or phonetics/phonology. These areas are defined in explicit recognition of the tasks of a linguistic science that exists in a social context characterized by migration, international cooperation, and rapid technological development. The appointee will be required to take part in all types of activities: research, teaching, and administration. Acquiantance with Danish is an advantage but not a condition; non-Danish-speaking applicants are required to undertake to learn Danish within a reasonably short period (a year or two). The language of instruction is Danish, but English, Swedish, or Norwegian is acceptable during the initial period. The monthly salary is at present 23,158 Dkr plus 5,549.48 Dkr bonus (5 years seniority), including a statutory 5% pension fund contribution (refunded on permanent emigration or at retirement).
