    UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES

    The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Cyprus announces two non-permanent (three-year contract) positions (Lecturer/Assistant Professor) for the programme of English Language and Literature in the following fields of study:

    One (1) non-permanent position in syntactic theory and the syntax of English. A demonstrated additional interest in morphology, semantics or other areas linguistics /applied linguistics relevant to the English programme would be an advantage.

    One (1) non-permanent position for translation studies. Language combination should include Greek and English and preferably another European language, e.g. French. Demonstrated additional competence in teaching writing courses to students of English is desirable.

    Candidates must hold a PhD. They need not be Cypriot citizens. Teaching in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures is in English.

    Annual salary: Asst.Prof: CYP 20,241-27,303 Lecturer: CYP 17,094-25,036 (1 CYP = \1631.609 and 1CYP = $1.9582)

    The advertised posts are established Chairs in the Department of Linguistic Science made vacant by the retirement of Professors E.Fudge and D.A.Wilkins.

    The successful applicants will be expected to maintain the Department's high reputation as a centre for research in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, to develop research and teaching in new directions and generally to provide academic leadership.
